One Person, One Hour, One Issue
Weather report for Tuesday morning, August 26 – an overcast morning in the mid-60s – invigorating weather to stand up for democracy and against tyranny.

What to focus on! How about predatory gerrymandering? Orange Jesus knows he is on track to lose control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections, so he is rigging the game with the help of MAGA legislatures all over the country. We need to start looking forward to the 2026 midterms!
Gerrymandering aside, let’s not forget what good friends POTUS 47 and Jeffrey Epstein were!
Also, consider dropping in to the Brier Creek Corner from 4 pm to 6 pm for Freedom Fridays, organized by Engaged Durhamites for Democracy. This event is getting more lively every week! If you like big trucks, you can come just to listen to all the REALLY LOUD beeps and honks we get from semis, dump trucks, and other construction vehicles. 🙂 If you want to get more information on Freedom Fridays, you can sign up for the Engaged Durhamites for Democracy Substack here.
Here’s the usual boilerplate protest information:
LOCATION: Public right of way, NE corner Glenwood & Brier Creek Pkwy (near Starbucks, Red Robin, in Walmart shopping center). We’ll be on the elevated grassy area along Glenwood, away from the traffic, and along the sidewalk on Brier Creek Parkway.
PARKING: Park in the adjacent Starbucks / Red Robin parking lots or at Walmart – please spread out so we don’t take all the spaces nearest these businesses.
SIGNS: The grassy knoll area along Glenwood is elevated and safely away from traffic, giving us great visibility along and across the intersection. Don’t have a sign? We have a bunch to share!
BE KIND: This is a peaceful, non-violent demonstration, of course. That extends to avoiding any negative interactions with passers-by. Any rude gestures or angry words should be met with a smile and a wave – and never returned in kind.
