One Person, One Hour, One Issue
See you tomorrow, down on the Brier Creek Corner. The weather should be great, and the solidarity will give you a wonderful boost!
If you have any doubts about the value of collective action, I give you this headline:

According to Disney, this was the result of “thoughtful talks” with Kimmel. No mention of the subscriber boycott, the massive public backlash, a potential lawsuit by Kimmel, and two (count ‘em, two!) Republican Senators who called them out on Kimmel’s firing.
Is this the biggest issue on the current agenda? It may not be your most important issue, but it is a big win for the right to speak out. As for your most important issue, come on down to the corner with your sign, and your issue, and your passion to speak out!
Meanwhile, K-K-K-Karoline Leavitt had her usual hissy fit when asked about former President Obama’s comments about Kimmel’s firing: “He has no idea what he’s talking about.” Shouldn’t she be at home, taking care of her baby?

Below is the usual boilerplate protest information.
LOCATION: Public right of way, NE corner Glenwood & Brier Creek Pkwy (near Starbucks, Red Robin, in Walmart shopping center). We’ll be on the elevated grassy area along Glenwood, away from the traffic, and along the sidewalk on Brier Creek Parkway.
PARKING: Park in the adjacent shopping center parking lots but please spread out so we don’t take all the spaces nearest these businesses. They have been very tolerant of our presence; let’s keep it that way.
SIGNS: The grassy knoll area along Glenwood is elevated and safely away from traffic, giving us great visibility along and across the intersection. Don’t have a sign? We have a bunch to share!
BE KIND: This is a peaceful, non-violent demonstration, of course. That extends to avoiding any negative interactions with passers-by. Any rude gestures or angry words should be met with a smile and a wave – and never returned in kind.

Also, consider dropping in to the Brier Creek Corner from 4 pm to 6 pm for Freedom Fridays, organized by Engaged Durhamites for Democracy. It looks and sounds like a frat party (with music and dancing!), but in a good way! If you want to get more information on Freedom Fridays, you can sign up for the Engaged Durhamites for Democracy Substack here.
