Thank you again to everyone who came out on Thursday night on a few hours notice to peacefully remember Renee Nicole Good, who lost her life in Minneapolis on Wednesday. I hope that it is some comfort to her family that so many people across the country hold her in their hearts.

Some of you who came out on Thursday night also came out to the Freedom Friday demonstration on the Brier Creek corner. There, the response from passing motorists was deafening at times. People are angry and frustrated; the administration’s response is to turn up the heat in order to provoke more combustible confrontations. It is important to remain peaceful and nonviolent in the face of deliberate provocation.
We’ll skip the snark this week, and ask you to please join us on Tuesday. The weather is expected to be clear and mild. We are in a marathon, not a sprint, and we need to show sustained, nonviolent and peaceful opposition to the authoritarian assault on democracy.
BOILERPLATE:
LOCATION: Public right of way, NE corner Glenwood & Brier Creek Pkwy (near Starbucks, Red Robin, in Walmart shopping center). We’ll be on the elevated grassy area along Glenwood, away from the traffic, and along the sidewalk on Brier Creek Parkway.
PARKING: Park in the adjacent shopping center parking lots but please spread out so we don’t take all the spaces nearest these businesses. They have been very tolerant of our presence; let’s keep it that way.
SIGNS: The grassy knoll area along Glenwood is elevated and safely away from traffic, giving us great visibility along and across the intersection. Don’t have a sign? We have a bunch to share!
BE KIND: This is a peaceful, non-violent demonstration. That extends to avoiding any negative interactions with passers-by. Any rude gestures or angry words should be met with a smile and a wave – and never returned in kind.

I didn’t know about Thursday night or we would have been there too. That’s the danger of not checking my email regularly. And no, I’ve never met an interesting angel. But we’ll be on the side that’s far from Mar-a-Lago as you said. Also, thank you for the compliments about my teaching and redesigning the curriculum to better suit my students. See you Tuesday, G-d willing.
